Langkawi is a group of 99 islands off the northwestern Malaysian coastline. Only three are developed and the rest are mostly covered in rainforests. These islands are home to many unique plants and animals that have sustained the island community for centuries.
Somewhere on or around Langkawi, depending upon the time of day, it’s possible to observe, a pod of Indo Pacific Humpback Dolphins, Brahminy Kites soaring in the sky, Oriental Pied Hornbills flying from tree to tree, rare Butterfly Lizards scurrying from their sandy burrows, Colugos gliding through the forest canopy, monkeys swinging through the trees or water cascading from waterfalls protruding from ancient rock formations. These processes have been ongoing for millions of years. Visitors are encouraged to work with the local community to preserve the island’s unique environment. |
