Mangroves are best seen growing in several forest reserves – Sungai (Sg) Air Hangat, Sg Kilim Sg Kisap, and the Toba Straits between Toba Island and Dayang Bunting. Mangroves are important as a nursery for fish as well as providing a habitat for birdlife, insects, primates and reptiles. Daily cruises in small boats enable close contact with this fascinating vegetation and the birds and animals it supports. Tours often include visits to limestone caves and the opportunity to see raptors (like eagles) feeding on marine life. |
